Porch Perfect

In the South and at the beach, porches symbolizes a friendly place to perch. And they're perfect for the kind of community we're building at Cinnamon Shore. They invite friendly nods from neighbors or solitary reading nooks. They spur family card games in the shade or sunset cocktails with new friends.

Details with distinction

We've relied on architects to give the porches of Cinnamon Shore signature style. They have classic cottage trims and railing patterns that please the eye and our sense of what defines a coastal cottage.

Update on hotel and conference center

Word has gotten out about the hotel and conference center in the works at Cinnamon Shore, a community developed by Sea Oats Group. GlobeSt.com recently featured the partnership between Sea Oats Group and the City of Port Aransas as it moves ahead with the project, after Sea Oats' new Cinnamon Shore South was voted last January as the location for the proposed facility.

Writer Lisa Hill wrote a lengthy GlobeSt.com piece that describes where the project stands, quoting Sea Oats Group Developer Jeff Lamkin: “We are moving forward full steam ahead on the hotel and conference center. We have submitted all documents to the state for approval of the legislated tax rebates, which is a key element of the project. We

Cinnamon Shore is in the news!

Bloomberg Television interviewed our very own Jeff Lamkin, developer of Cinnamon Shore and CEO of Sea Oats Group, about how our community fared well during Hurricane Harvey as well as how it’s prepared for storms to come.

Lamkin says that thanks to modern-day building codes and the quality construction at Cinnamon Shore, the community survived practically unscathed. He’s more confident than ever that homes here can stand up to future storms, too. “Our highest sales have happened since [Harvey] and our sales volume has increased because people are able to see what withstood the storm and what’s still standing,” Lamkin says.

When Austin Architect Jim Kissling was thinking about the floor plan for La Ola, a newly listed property at Cinnamon Shore, he thought about the way most people use their vacation homes. “Especially on vacation, people always gather around the dinner and living spaces. They aren’t going to sit in a room by themselves,” he says.

That’s how he came up with the terrific floor plan that allows plenty of privacy and lots of places to gather and visit in this three-story beach cottage, ringed with porches. He combined a state-of-the-art kitchen and living room to create a stunning place where the families and friends who spend time here will naturally want to congregate.

There are other lessons this house plan teaches. Take a closer look and get ideas
